I have emailed Garmin about donating GPS's and am waiting for a reply back from them in the next few days. That is the the big thing, the people that showed interest do not have a GPS and the unit that I am dosen't have them. So right now it is a wait on them. Unless we get them paired up with some one and send them out in teams. That is the only other thing I can come up with.
Chances are they won't donate any GPS units, they are just too costly to just donate. They have "donated" in the past but that was more of a promotional thing which greatly promoted their product. They may donate some GPS items like maybe some cases, stickers, pens etc but doubtfully GPS units.
Now, that should not be a showstopper. You can always have gps units lent to you which you can then sign out to them for the event. First thing that needs to be done is garner interest from MWR and maybe BOSS, that way there can be a greater dissemination on post. The event can be billed as a Wounded Warrior Geocaching event but open to others (mandatory if listed on GC.com) to come out and participate in the event. That way if only a few of your troops show up there can still be enough people attend to both participate and show their support for the troops. But I must caution you to keep the Wounded Warrior aspect toned down, GC will not post any events that have any hint of an agenda no matter how noble.
